The Office of Integrity & Compliance works closely with compliance partners across all campuses to provide centralized oversight, strategic management, and substantive support toward mitigation of risk and advancement of ethical, lawful, and professional conduct. Through collaboration with these partners, OIC facilitates alignment of policies and processes, fosters continuous improvement of best practices, and supports a climate of accountability and integrity.




Privacy: HIPAA and FERPA

  • HIPAA Compliance Policy

    The University of Kansas is committed to protecting individuals' health information in compliance with various federal, state, and university regulations including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

  • FERPA Guidelines

    The University of Kansas ensures the confidentiality of student records in accordance with various federal, state, and university regulations, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as amended, also known as the Buckley Amendment.

  • Accessible KU

    The University is committed to providing equal access for individuals with disabilities to the academic, social, cultural, and employment opportunities available at KU. The ADA Resource Center for Equity and Accessibility provides individuals with disabilities access to a wealth of campus and community resources, expertise on accessibility, employment accommodations, and offer a sense of community.

  • Clery Act

    The federal Clery Act requires higher education institutions to publicly report statistics concerning the occurrence of certain criminal offenses involving students, faculty, staff or visitors. The Office of Civil Rights & Title IX works collaboratively with campus partners to coordinate the university’s compliance activities regarding the Clery Act. KU’s Annual Security Report provides information about campus safety and security policies and procedures as well as crime information.

  • Data Classification and Handling Procedures Guide

    Determine how to handle and protect University data, information and records in any form (paper, digital text, image, audio, video, microfilm, etc.) during the course of conducting University business (administrative, financial, education, research or service).

  • KU Lawrence - Employee Trainings

    KU provides a variety of training options to help KU employees gain knowledge and skills to make them more effective and successful in their academic, research, and work endeavors. In addition to annual compliance trainings, professional development opportunities can be found in the MyTalent Performance Management System.

  • KU Office of Research

    Research Integrity, a unit in the Office of Research, works with KU committees, departments, and centers across campus to provide administrative oversight of various research compliance areas including: Conflicts of Interest and Commitment, Export, KU Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), Biosafety, and Radiation.

  • Export Compliance

    The Office of Export Compliance advises KU Faculty and staff on international export/import controls, provides procedural guidance, and implements training to support international activity.

  • Financial Aid Compliance - Consumer Information

    Financial Aid & Scholarships provides consumer information for students, parents, prospective students, and other constituents. This includes basic financial aid information, FERPA policies, drug & alcohol abuse prevention information, and student outcome related data.

  • Information Security - KU IT Security Office

    The KU IT Security Office provides security information, analysis, risk management and mitigation, awareness and guidance to help protect the University's information assets and technology environment.

  • Policy Administration

    The Office of Policy Administration functions as an institution-wide resource for policy and policy development. As stewards of the University Policy Program, Policy Administration is responsible for the maintenance and oversight of the Policy Library, the University’s official archive for policy.
